One of the things we value at Love Guatemala is relationships. We know that it is through relationships that God’s love is shown and people come to know him. Relationship building is our focus when we have visitors and teams. This week we had some visitors here from Georgia. They are from one of our supporting churches, Piedmont Church.
Summer and Storm Collins got here on Sunday and spent the day connecting with the Kunkels. Both Summer and Storm are teachers, Summer has been a teacher for 14 years and Storm for 4. This is Summers 3rd time visiting and and Storms 4th.
Monday we spent the morning in teachers training for the teachers to work out some things for the new year and to find ways to keep the students in line.
This is Summer and Storm with Miley who was helping to translate for the training. Miley also helped translate for them the other times they were here.
That afternoon we went to Miley’s and met some of her family and prayed with her. Storm is also one of Miley’s sponsors.
After that we went with Milton, who is Pedro the carpenter teacher’s assistant, to pray for his aunt who is sick.
Tuesday morning we went to visit Cesar who is a man in his 40s that is bedbound because of a rare disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis that conjoins all his bones so he cant walk or move most of his body. He has an amazing story and it’s so inspirational. He has an amazing faith and he shows it through the way he talks and prays. We are always amazed by him and his continuous faith and love in God. God’s timing is perfect and He plans things exactly the way they’re supposed to be.
At lunch we had the feeding center and Summer and Storm helped out and connected with the kids.
After lunch, we went to visit some of the kids from the feeding center that Summer and Storm met the last time they were here.
That is something we love. When the relationships with the people they connect with keep growing each time they come. It reminds the poorest of people that God will love them no matter what and that he will always take care of us. Matthew 10:29-31 Are not 2 sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the hairs on your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
While we were there the girls saw that the kids had shoes that were old and too small and one of the kids said they had nothing to eat for supper so we came the next day with shoes for the kids and bags of food.
This is also important, because of those relationships we saw a need and met that need. The only way we could have done that was by going there to their house and talking to them and seeing their needs. The relationships we make with the people here is how we help them.
That same evening we went to the tourist hotspot Antigua, did a little sight seeing, and then had dinner there.
We saw some lava come out of Fuego (left) while we were at the restaurant.
On Wednesday after bringing the new shoes and food to the kids we went to visit Christian, who translated for Summer and Storm last time they were here. We got to see how he was doing and what he’s been up to.
We did a few more visits to see people Summer and Storm met the other times they came. Here are some pictures of that. Now you can be a part in some of whats going on!

We got to see the graduates of the English school do their final presentations before they graduate.
