Hey all! I just wanted to let you all know that I'm back home safe in Indiana….however, it was difficult to leave my new friends and family back in Magdalena. It seemed that when I began to really get the contentment piece, that is when my trip ended. Although I was there for 5 weeks, it really felt like it flew by….It's hard for me to believe that I am back home already….its seems like just yesterday when I was packing up my stuff and leaving for Guatemala. The one thing God really showed me through this trip is that I want to really give people back home my time….I want to show them love the way that I was able to show the people in Guatemala love. Life seemed to just slow down for me in Guatemala….and I was able to really focus on people and get into relationship with the people there. I know that there is a culture difference, and that our jobs and tasks are important here….but people are important. What if we slowed down each week and opened up, even just one evening, for PEOPLE….for our neighbors, for o
ur families, for people we don't
know, etc. What if we did something nice for someone else so that we could create a bridge to get into relationship with that person. For example, I used the support money from all of you to buy a bed for Christian's family, to buy materials for the women in the art school, to buy medicine for Jose…..but that was just one piece to the puzzle….that is how I was able to open the door to get into relationship with these people. So, I want to challenge you all…don't stop with doing something nice for someone…that is our opportunity to reach out and really get into relationship… follow up…stay connected.. So, I'd like to end with this scripture…”And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13). I want to thank each and every one of you for your financial and prayerful support. This brigde/connection with the people in Magdalena would not have been possible without your help. Thank you all and God bless you!!
